Is it a Good Time to Dropship Knowing That There is a Virus Outbreak

There is a tight competition in dropshipping. Many say that dropshipping is saturated as it is very easy to set-up and requires minimal cost as compared with traditional business models. It requires an internet connection, computer and a reliable supplier to run the business.

China is the leading supplier of the majority of any products around the world.  And the outbreak has affected thousands of sellers globally. But with the recent outbreak, do you think it is still a good time to dropship with Chinese as the major supplier of products?

I personally think that dropshipping at this time is still a good business.  I say it is good because the demands will always be there. However, let us now eliminate the fact that it will be extra challenging during this time due to the phenomenon that affects the majority of China, and also the rest of the world.  Let us discuss how we can get through dropshipping given the virus outbreak.

In our previous post What are the Alternatives to Chinese Suppliers for Dropshipping? We discussed options to deal with the challenges of getting alternatives to Chinese suppliers.  In this post, we want to cite how we can turn challenges into opportunities.

The first challenge that affected dropshipping sellers is contacting suppliers in China.  China has the world’s greatest population. No wonder, the virus has spread easily and has been transmitted to thousands of people all over the world.

Because of the effects of the virus on the people of China, the government has inflicted a major lockdown stopping all operations in the manufacturing and any other businesses.  Everyone stays at home. This major outbreak greatly impacted around 80% of the dropshipping operations including fulfillment, warehousing, and shipping. Just to name a few.

How to turn challenges into opportunities?  We’d like to start by looking for other suppliers.  Examples would be suppliers from the US. One of the largest audiences in dropshipping is based in the US.  What great way can we handle the challenges in dropshipping but to widen the search for suppliers and sources from the US?

The next challenge is shipment.  One way to transfer the virus is through international travels. Many airline companies have canceled flights and imposed travel ban especially in countries that are greatly affected by the virus.   This is true with the shipment of products.

The outbreak has caused a major delay in the shipping of orders primarily because of (1) delay in product production and fulfillment, (2) transportation delays. These challenges lead us back to the first solution:  searching for alternatives to Chinese suppliers.

How do US suppliers help in resolving these challenges?  Simple. Shipment is more convenient. Customers will gain more confidence that the products are fulfilled and shipped within the US and also cuts the wait time to get products.  Besides, customers are always in need of products for everyday use. It is important to understand the needs so that we can still meet the market for dropshipping.
In dropshipping, it is essential that you find quality products at a good rate so that you can get more profit in return. This is why you will always see sellers looking for a reliable supplier all the time. Few things to consider when finding a supplier:
  1. fast shipping
  2. good price
  3. reliable customer support
With these considerations in mind, we shall keep in mind to find a partner that can deliver quality services, and products too. Considering the market of dropshipping, there are tools designed to increase your profitability and earn more money in return. For one, Multi-Drop is one of the reliable sourcing agents that promise to deliver all-in-on service to Shopify, also eBay sellers to increase earnings by giving quality products, reliable shipping, and full software integration.
